RetailerNet: Overview

RetailerNet is essentially a tailor made private network using broadband technology that includes a credit card authorisation system. As a result of the large bandwidth afforded by broadband technology, further options including VOIP, File Transfers, CCTV feeds and in-store music can also be utilised.

How it works

1st Network will organise the provision of a broadband connection at each store.

We will then provide a SymRelay unit for each of your retail outlets.

With the hardware in place, we install the RetailerNet pipe to your headquarters, allowing us to route traffic between your headquarters, your retail outlets and your bank accordingly.

What’s included?

Everything is included within the RetailerNet service:

  • The BT service costs at the1st Network RetailerNet centre.
  • Primary and backup radius servers.
  • The cost of BT IP Stream (broadband) at each retail outlet.
  • Fully maintained and managed SymRelay units at each retail outlet.
  • Routing of Credit Card Traffic to your bank.
  • QoS and VOIP call costs.
  • An SDSL link from RetailerNet to your headquarters.
  • The design of your intranet.
  • Support, interfacing and liasing with BT.
  • 24/7 remote management.

Major benefits

By using broadband technology, fast credit card authorisation with multi-threading is possible, allowing simultaneous multiple transactions.

Your time to authorise will be significantly quicker; therefore your customer queues will be shorter.

Network management is performed by 1st Network – Installation, configuration, fault reporting, equipment exchange, equipment maintenance and repair are all included.

Fallback is provided should the broadband ever fail, utilising the modem dial up feature built into the SymRelay units – Unique to the RetailerNet service.
